Red-Orange Fatty

Food finds in the past 2 weeks:
UCC Vegetable au gratin – P239

I used to think “au gratin” meant cheesy, but it’s really just a technique in French cooking where you top a casserole or dish with bread crumbs and dots of butter. So technically, my Mom’s chicken casserole is au gratin.

This was yummy, like many UCC dishes. Except the vegetables seemed tough instead of tender. Which is good. It means the veggie strips packed a lot of vitamins.

Cheesy corn grits – P15 per pack

At first I thought this was chichacorn, but you know what? It tastes like round, puffed up Cheetos! Awesome find. Except it makes your fingers sticky and orange.

Spicy Calamari Pasta – P235

This was good. Like a plain tomato sauce used in puttanesca but dotted with chewy squid rings. It had just the right amount of spice. It was good!

Jamaica Coffee Beef lasagna – P95

Overpriced, gooey, greasy little dish that you can get anywhere. It wasn’t worth it. You can get equally shoddy food for less at those 24-hour convenience stores.

Gram’s Diner 3-way burgers with shoestring onions – P275

This is what a Krabby Patty must taste like. Yum! 🙂 haha. The 3-way burger (kinky no?) has 3 flavors: plain beef patty with thousand island dressing; beef patty with caramelized onions, button mushrooms, melted cheese and cream cheese; then beef patty with melted cheese, mayonnaise, and a huge strip of bacon. Plus salty and greasy shoestring onions.

Let’s have a close-up of that:

Mmmmm! Ate one for breakfast, another for lunch, and the last one for dinner. 🙂 Sulit.
